SAIL shares up 2% post Q4 beat

Shares of Steel Authority of India Ltd gained 2 per cent in early trade on recording 16.5 per cent increase in standalone net profit for the quarter ended March 2025 at ₹1,172 crore as against ₹1,011 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenue from operations rose 5 per cent to ₹29,316 crore in the quarter under review as against ₹27,958 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. 

The State-run steel major posted 6 per cent y-o-y increase in total expenses to ₹28,023.15 crore in the quarter under review.

In FY25, the standalone net profit declined 21 per cent to ₹2,147.96 crore from ₹2,733.11 crore in FY24.

On consolidated basis, SAIL’s net profit grew 11 per cent to ₹1,251 crore in March quarter, driven by revenues.

The board also recommended a final dividend of ₹1.60 per equity share for FY25.

SAIL Chairman and Managing Director Amarendu Prakash said, “Amidst challenges posed by international tariffs and import pressures, which was present in the last quarter of FY25, our robust performance reflects our ability to navigate complexities while strengthening our position.”

Domestic brokerage Motilal Oswal observed that the steel major posted in-line revenue, driven by strong volume growth. Motilal assigned neutral call on the stock at ₹128 as target price.

The stock traded flat on the BSE at ₹129.90 as at 2.48 pm, hitting an intraday high of ₹132.
