The current GWM Haval H6 has received a refresh around four years after the mid-size SUV landed on Australian shores, bringing updated styling, new tech, a more powerful petrol engine, and new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants.
Entry-level Premium grades have been dropped, which sees the base price rise by $2000 – or $5000 if you consider runout offers.
The now entry-level Lux is $1000 cheaper than before, though GWM is continuing to offer stock of the pre-update Lux at $3000 off.
Likewise, the Lux Hybrid is now $1500 cheaper than before, but $3000 more expensive if you consider runout offers.

You can no longer get all-wheel drive with the petrol engine, though the petrol engine has seen a bump in outputs of 20kW and 60Nm, to totals of 170kW and 380Nm.
It has also swapped its seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in favour of a nine-speed unit.
The hybrid is unchanged, while there are new front- and all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid variants offering up to 106km of electric-only range. You can view full details of these in the Drivetrains and Efficiency section below.
All Haval H6s feature freshened exterior styling, including a cascading, dark-finish grille – reminiscent of the outgoing Hyundai Palisade and new LDV Terron 9 – and plunging LED daytime running lights, although the headlights are unchanged.
At the rear, the full-width light bar has been replaced with two separate tail-light units that bookend a GWM badge. A hands-free power tailgate is standard for all bar the petrol Lux.
There’s new black wheel-arch cladding, plus 19-inch black alloy wheels. GWM has also ditched the chrome accents once found on the front quarter panels, window surrounds and the lower parts of the doors for a more monochromatic look.
Inside, the gear selector has been moved to the steering column, while a new 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen replaces the old 10.25- and 12.3-inch units.
It features GWM’s latest-generation operating system, and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The digital instrument cluster remains a 10.25-inch unit, but features a new visual layout previously seen in GWM’s Tank models.
There’s a thicker steering wheel with sculpted indentations at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions, while the Haval H6 also gains a new available cream interior colourway.

The Haval H6 PHEV can be fast-charged using DC power. GWM claims it takes 28 minutes to charge the battery from 30 to 80 per cent at 34kW.

Servicing and Warranty
The GWM Haval H6 is backed by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.
GWM offers five years of capped-price servicing, though it will confirm pricing for the updated lineup closer to its launch.
Safety
GWM hasn’t confirmed whether the five-star ANCAP rating of the pre-update model will carry over and extend to the new PHEVs.
The pre-update Haval H6 petrol and hybrid lineup has a five-star rating based on testing conducted in 2022, though this excludes PHEV variants.

The Lux and Lux Hybrid are offered exclusively with black leatherette upholstery.
The Ultra PHEV FWD is offered exclusively with a black leather interior.
All Ultra variants offer a choice of black or cream leather interiors, however, you can’t get the latter if you specify the Hamilton White exterior finish.
Hamilton White is the standard exterior paint, with the following colours costing an additional $495:
